Childcare Solutions Pilot Program

We have heard you!

SLAC recently conducted a survey with SLAC employees currently on the waitlist for Stanford childcare to gauge employee preference regarding different options connected to childcare.

What’s emerged from the survey results is that employees are seeking affordable care within a reasonable driving distance from the SLAC campus. We’ve attempted to meet that specific employee demand via this pilot program.

Childcare Subsidy Program Introduction

The fundamental purpose of the pilot program is to address affordability for SLAC employees.  Our pilot program will offset some costs of childcare expense for SLAC employees by providing a discounted subsidy to eligible employees and to provide more readily available access to high-demand childcare that can take months to years to access in our area. This is in addition to childcare benefits available to all Stanford employees.

The program will partially cover expenses for infant, toddler, and preschool care, who are aged 6 months to 6 years.

SLAC Pilot Childcare Subsidy Program Eligibility

This program is available to SLAC employees who are benefits eligible, currently employed by SLAC, working at least 50% FT (20 hours/week).

Child(ren) must be a legal dependent as shown on the employee’s Tax Form 1040 or listed as a qualified person per the employee’s Tax Form 2441.

When SLAC employment ends, for any reason, subsidy stops but the employee will still keep the spot at the childcare facility.  Subsidy will end at the end of the month when employment ends. (Voluntary/involuntary terminations).

SLAC Pilot Childcare Subsidy Program Application Process

Applications must be submitted to the internal program office.  SLAC Human Resources will confirm eligibility, and determine availability based on demand.  If demand exceeds availability, HR will randomly select employees based on a lottery system.

Applications must be submitted to secure a spot for your child.
